Nominate your heroes by November 20!

Now accepting submissions for Labour Appreciation Awards

It’s time to nominate your best activists and unsung heroes. Plans for United Way’s annual Labour Appreciation Awards Night, the highly anticipated and exclusive event celebrating the dedication of local people who work tirelessly for social justice, is already underway. Nominations will be accepted until November 20.

This year’s event, titled Love Local, Love Labour, will include live music and will be hosted at Goodwill Industries on January 23, 2020. Friends and colleagues will come together for a night of celebration with bevvies, hor d’oeuvres and the Labour Appreciation awards being announced.

“This evening celebrates the hard work and dedication of an amazing group of people,” says Kelly Ziegner, CEO and President, United Way Elgin Middlesex. “It’s an amazing evening that commemorates the great things Labour and United Way have accomplished together.”

Last year’s event celebrated 23 award recipients, with the prestigious Images of Hope award given to Brian Tansy, ATU Local 741 and Labour United Chair. The award is presented annually to an individual displaying exemplary dedication to community, the Labour Movement, and a lifetime of activism to improving lives locally.

Do you know someone who deserves to be recognized? Submit your nomination before November 20 to Dani Bartlett, Labour Programs & Services Coordinator, United Way Elgin Middlesex.
