Lights… Camera… ACTION!

The 4th Annual Virtual Tour is coming back this fall and we couldn’t be more excited! This year, join us as we visit Glen Cairn Community Resource Centre and learn how food opens the door to a network of neighbours helping neighbours… creating stronger communities for all.

With a live facilitator combined with pre-recorded footage from agencies, this is an interactive event. We invite you to join in the conversation with real time polls, share your reactions, and engage in our chat discussion.

2023 Virtual Tour

It can be tough to make ends meet these days. Soaring food prices and skyrocketing rents have left many people reeling. Inflation recently reached its highest point in 40 years.

This region’s poverty rates are second-highest among urban areas in Ontario, and consistently higher than the national average.

For local folks who live on the margins, times are particularly tough: seniors struggling to buy groceries, people who are unhoused and unable to find a safe, affordable place to live, and families having to choose between paying utility bills or back-to-school clothes for their kids.

For them especially, harsh reality can sometimes be too harsh and too real.

United Way Elgin Middlesex works to change this story.

One of the ways we do this is by connecting people with each other and with available community resources.

Places like the Glen Cairn Community Resource Centre offer tangible ways people can get through tough times and thrive.  Not only do they provide food and basic needs, but they also provide a welcoming community and open door to so many other supports.

We can’t wait to share the amazing work that they do with you!

History of Virtual Tour

For years, our Fall Campaign included opportunities for workplace teams and individuals to visit our local agency partners, to hear and see in person how United Way invests your donations effectively and how those donations make a real difference in people’s lives.

In 2020, the world changed, and these visits simply weren’t possible.  So, we got creative and worked with StarTech.com to bring the agencies to you… virtually.

This is only possible thanks to Paul Seed, CEO at StarTech.com, whose vision and support enabled us to create the 2020 Virtual Tour and lay the foundation for future opportunities for our community to come together, virtually, to learn, celebrate, and experience United Way Elgin Middlesex funded agencies in a whole new way!

Over the past three years, over 4,000 people have been a part of the Virtual Tour.  We hope that you will join us this year as well.

Expect to be inspired, engaged, and witness – up close – the impact of your contribution on creating long-lasting social change.

Each year’s Virtual Tour provides a new story of community, belonging, and hope as we meet front line workers and hear stories from people who have been a part of the programs that they support.

United Way Elgin Middlesex is proud to stand with them as they help us in our goal of creating a community where everyone matters and everyone has a fair shot at a good life.
