From boardroom to soil bed: Libro Credit Union volunteers dig into their 10th Day of Caring

Cameras invited to London urban farm as United Way marks 25 years of community volunteering

LONDON, Ont. – On Thursday, June 18, 2026, volunteers from local workplaces will fan out across Elgin Middlesex for United Way Elgin Middlesex’s 25th annual Day of Caring, presented by Libro Credit Union—now in its 10th consecutive year as presenting sponsor.

Among the day’s volunteer sites, media will find an especially compelling visual story at Type Diabeat-It’s urban farm, where Libro Credit Union staff will be mid-project—with soil beds built and seedlings in the ground—when cameras arrive.

Day of Caring brings together local workplaces to volunteer at United Way’s partner agencies— tackling hands-on projects that agencies often lack the time or resources to complete on their own. While agencies receive much-needed support, volunteers gain a firsthand look at the work being done to reduce poverty across our region.

Media invitation
Type Diabeat-It Urban Farm – building soil beds, transplanting seedlings
165 Exeter Road, London, ON
Suggested arrival: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18

Libro Credit Union and United Way staff will be on site and available for interviews. A spokesperson will be present throughout the morning.

Excellent opportunities for video, photography and audio. Volunteers will have been working since 10:00 a.m., so cameras arriving at 11:00 a.m. will find both completed work to showcase and active volunteering underway.
